Gods of Comedy

Okoboji Summer Theatre / 2021

Gods of Comedy follows two classics professors on a chaotic search for a lost Euripides manuscript as divine intervention pushes their day further and further off course. Gretchen Ugalde's scenic design supports that comic momentum with three distinct locations unified by a canopy of trees and foliage that ties the world together.

Design Statement

en Ludwig's The Gods of Comedy, follows a couple of college classics professors who are hunting for a missing Euripides manuscript. They find it, lose it, are aided by several Greek gods as they seek to locate it and along the way find their day filled with more than a little adventure.

Three distinct scenes were created for this show, a street cafe on the Greek island of Naxos, a university professor's office, and a courtyard on the central campus. A canopy of trees and foliage borders unites all of these locations.
